Thumbs up Temasek appoints new deputy chairman

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:



SINGAPORE - Businessman Mr Cheng Wai Keung was appointed the Deputy Chairman of Temasek Holdings's Board of Directors, with effect from Monday, Nov 4.

Mr Cheng, a non-executive Director on the Temasek Board from Sep 2011, is also a member of the Temasek Board's Executive Committee.

An accomplished and respected business leader in Asia, Mr Cheng is the Chairman and Managing Director of Wing Tai Holdings Limited which has interests in property, hospitality and retail sectors in the region.

He is also Vice Chairman of Singapore-Suzhou Township Development Pte Ltd, and a Director with Singbridge Holdings Pte Ltd, Singapore Health Services Pte Ltd and Kidney Dialysis Foundation Limited.

Mr Cheng, who has served on the boards of various public service organisations, has also been chairman of NOL, Power Seraya Limited, MediaCorp TV Singapore Pte Limited, Media Corporation of Singapore Pte Limited and Raffles Holdings Limited.

He has received several awards, including the Distinguished Service Order (DUBC) by the Singapore Government in August 2007, the Public Service Star (Bar) (BBM-Lintang) in 1997 and Public Service Star (BBM) in 1987.

The businessman graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago, after obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University in the United States.
