Very important that you talk to the hotel first, especially with the 3 stars and above.

Also on their Agoda page, under hotel policies will say if they allow guest or not.

Some hotels will force you to pay for an extra room for the guest, some a fee and some will just say no. Can be trouble

You can consider air bnb apartments. Can ask the host whether can bring local guest overnight....they will tell you matter of factly.
Last time i used to stay 2-3 star hotel... bring back girl no issues...just leave id at front desk....then another time kena pattern, want me open another room for my girl. Paid usd90....no choice my kkj already hard and her xmm wet...haha
My recent trips, i tried air bnb...pricing good, facilities good and chances of running into someone you know is slim...if you head back late at night, chances are that the reception already gone home....

In hcm, its called club. 100% legal. Usually situated in hotels. No table games, all games machine. Hv baccarat, roulette etc. Clubs open to all foreigners. Locals cant go in.

The nearest actual casinos with table games is in Mocbai-Bavet, the cambodian vietnam border. As usual, the casinos in bavet give free rooms when we do rolling. The free food here is vv good, chilli crab, steam fish.

I am staying at airbnb now. Always use to stay in hotel but have to say its v good so far.

With the guest they say need to register but many times late at night when I come home there is no one at reception so havent needed to.

This is only after 4 times but seems like more freedom as you have your own key and no staff to observe you.
