Simply trial and error will get it worse. Get a lab test, the doctor can check the results which show which bacteria you got and whether it is weak, resistant or immune to the various antibiotics. Doxy (before results) didn't work for the culture I got, so he gave Augmentin (after results) which worked. Fixed in 2 days, but still need to finish the course (7 days) for best effect.
Even without or wrong meds, it seems it can go away on its own, but recurrence may occur. Of course if you worry a lot, you can also go test for other STDs like HIV while you are there.
